Safety comes first
A gas furnace burns fuel inside your house. A yearly check of the heat exchanger, venting and safety controls is the best protection against carbon monoxide problems. Every home with gas should have working CO alarms, too. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
Furnace replacement
When a furnace is done, we replace it with properly sized equipment, new venting where needed, and a permit and inspection. Many attic installs in our photos are side-by-side systems in two-story homes. If your air conditioner is also aging, replacing both together often makes sense, and we'll explain why.
Common questions
How often should a gas furnace be serviced?
Once a year, in the fall before you need it. A furnace check covers burners, ignition, flame sensor, venting, the heat exchanger and safety controls, the parts that keep a gas appliance safe.
Why does my furnace click but not light?
The igniter may have failed, the flame sensor may be dirty, or the gas supply may be off. Many furnaces flash a code on the control board that points to the cause. Note the pattern before turning the power off.
How long do gas furnaces last?
Often 15 to 20 years or more in our climate, since they only run a few months a year. Cracked heat exchangers and repeated ignition failures are the usual signs it's time.
Do you work on attic and crawlspace furnaces?
Yes. A lot of homes around Rock Hill and Fort Mill have furnaces in the attic or in a crawlspace, and many of our installs are in exactly those spots.
