How we approach a replacement
- Look at the whole house. Square footage alone doesn't size a system. Insulation, windows, sun exposure, duct condition and how the house is used all matter.
- Lay out real options. A good system that fits your budget, and higher-efficiency choices if they pay off for how you live. No pressure either way.
- Install it right. New pad or supports, new line set or a properly flushed one, sealed connections, correct refrigerant charge, clean condensate drains, and a permit and inspection.
- Walk you through it. How to set the thermostat, what filter it takes, and what maintenance keeps the warranty intact.
Why sizing matters so much here
In our humid summers, an oversized air conditioner cools the house quickly and shuts off before it has pulled moisture out of the air. The house ends up cold and clammy. An undersized one runs nonstop on the hottest afternoons. A proper load calculation avoids both.
Whole systems, not just the outdoor unit
The outdoor unit and indoor coil are designed as a matched pair, and with today's refrigerants an old coil usually isn't compatible anyway. We'll replace what needs replacing and tell you honestly if something, like ductwork in good shape, can stay.

Common questions
How much does a new AC system cost?
It depends on the size of the house, whether you need just an air conditioner or a heat pump, gas furnace or air handler too, the efficiency level, and whether ductwork needs changes. We give a written price after seeing the home. We don't quote systems sight unseen.
What brand do you install?
Most of the systems in our job photos are Rheem. If you want a specific brand, ask when you call.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward replacement of an existing split system is usually one day. Adding ductwork, changing locations, or converting fuel types can add time.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. HVAC replacements in York and Lancaster Counties require a mechanical permit and inspection, and that's part of doing the job right.
What refrigerant do new systems use?
New air conditioners and heat pumps now use lower-impact refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32 instead of R-410A. New outdoor units are matched with a compatible new indoor coil.
